Back on the 3rd September Let’s Stop Aquind Chair, Viola Langley, met with Portsmouth Council Leader Cllr Gerald Vernon-Jackson to jointly work on the next steps in the campaign to Stop the Aquind Interconnector coming through Portsmouth and the Hampshire countryside.
The City Council team, on the call included the Head of Planning (Ian Maguire) and the City Council planning lawyer who attended the whole of the planning hearing.
The City Council and Let’s Stop Aquind agreed to continue to work together to make sure this dangerous application is stopped.
Let’s Stop Aquind Chair Viola Langley welcomed the joint work with the Council. “We have had great support from all the political parties in Portsmouth for the campaign to Stop Aquind. I’m pleased the City Council has put real cash behind this support and we will continue to plan for the next steps until we win.”
Council Leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson has backed the campaign 100%. “The City Council will look at any decision Ministers make on this issue, and if they make the wrong decision the City Council will support local residents and look to challenge any permission given in court, if we think there are grounds to do so. My thanks to everyone involved in Let’s Stop Aquind from all parties, let’s keep up the pressure.”
